This Privacy Policy was last updated as of May 23rd, 2017.

What Information We Collect From You

Any time you visit the Site, we collect certain information from you.  This information may be Personal Information, or Automatic Information.  Both kinds of information may be stored in cookies.

Personal Information: In order for you to use many features and services of the Site we need certain Personal Information from you.  Depending on the service or feature you are trying to use, we may ask you for some or all of the following Personal Information: name, e-mail address, phone number, address, and company name.  We may also ask for details relating to service requests, such as contest entries and referrals.  You may also be asked to create a username and password.

Automatic Information: Like most websites, we collect information automatically when you use the Site.  This “web log” information includes browser type, ISP name and IP address, referring and exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks through our site.  We do not associate any of this log information with Personal Information.

How We Collect Your Information

When you register to use the Site, and when you request any service or feature via the Site, you will be asked to provide Personal Information relevant to that transaction.  You will be reminded at the collection point why we are collecting that information. You may browse the site without providing any information to us except that collected automatically. However, if you do not provide Personal Information or permit the use of cookies, you may be unable to use certain features and services of the Site.

How We Use Your Information

Server Location: Our servers are located in Israel and the United States of America.  Your Personal Information may be processed and stored on, and transferred to, servers in the United States and elsewhere around the world.  Those countries may have different laws regarding data privacy and data protection than your home country does.

Cookies: Like many website operators, we use cookies.  Cookies are small pieces of data placed on a user’s computer for identification purposes.  “Session” cookies terminate when you close your browser.  We may use Personal Information in connection with session cookies in order to improve your experience and support personalized service on the Site, such as by remembering certain content preferences indicated by you in previous. That Personal Information is only stored until you close your browser.  “Persistent” cookies remain on your computer until you delete them manually. We may use persistent cookies to help us provide personalized site experience such determining different feature and/or design versions you will receive. Persistent cookies may also be used by third parties to serve ads on our behalf and to monitor the Site to provide us with non-personally identifiable usage information and statistics.  We do not link the data in persistent cookies to any Personal Information, and we do not allow third parties to do so either.

How We Share Your Personal Information

Partners: We may employ or partner with third parties to carry out work on our behalf or to fulfill certain services and features on the Site.  For example, third parties serve advertising on the Site, host the site, we refer users to third parties for professional home services, and we use a third party payment processing service. Where we use a third party to process any Personal Information in any way, that third party is under contractual obligations not to use your Personal Information in any way except to fulfill the request you make.

Advertising and Analytics:

We may use third parties to serve ads on the site. Certain third parties may automatically collect information about your visits to this and other websites, your IP address, the browser you use to visit the site, and in our emails/communications. Generally, we do not proactively share any data with third party advertisers; however, due to the way our site is currently structured, our third party data partners may be able to access certain data. The personally identifiable information (PII) that we capture is an IP address and an email address. When we share information with advertisers or data partners, the shared information includes hashed email addresses and cookie data. Our partners may link the nonpersonal information we share with them to the cookie stored on your browser or device. Our partners use this information to recognize you across different channels and platforms over time for advertising, analytics, attribution, and reporting purposes. To learn more about interest-based advertising in general and to opt out, please visit http://www.aboutads.info/choices. However, for users for whom GDPR regulation applies (i.e. European users) and who have not provided consent to Hometalk to capture, store and process their data, we will not be sharing their information with advertisers and/or data partners. We do not currently receive any PII from third parties.

The Site may use Google Analytics, Looker, or other service providers for analytics services. These analytics services may use cookies and other tracking technologies to help us analyze users and how they use the Site. Information generated by these services may be transmitted to and stored by these service providers on servers in the U.S. (or elsewhere) and these service providers may use this information for purposes such as evaluating your use of the Site, compiling statistic reports on the Site’s activity, and providing other services relating to Site activity and other Internet usage. You may exercise choices regarding the use of cookies from Google Analytics by going to https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
